Lidl wine offers

Following the very sucessful wine tasting hosted by Lidl's master of Wine - Richard Bampfield, we get his personal updates on what is good at Lidl! The latest is:

That time again………On Thursday, September 28th, the new Wine Cellar will be on the Lidl shelves, loaded with a strong French accent. Here are my picks from the selection……
Chateau Louvignes Gaillac white - £5.99 - very delicate, ideal if you are looking for a light, relatively low alcohol dry white.
Pouilly-Loché 2016 - £10.99 - not the finest white Burgundy ever but, given the rising prices, this looks a pretty good buy.
Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2012 - £8.99 - certainly the most unusual wine in the collection, with more than a hint of dry sherry in the flavour. Amazing with chicken….
Cabernet d’Anjou Rosé - £5.99 - tastes a bit like a guilty pleasure - unashamedly fruity, not too dry, so moreish…..
Crémant de Limoux Brut - £7.99 - good, easy-drinking, dry fizz
Rasteau 2015 - £7.99 - satisfying, warming winter red from the southern Rhône
Carignan Val de Salis - £5.99 - maybe not the best known grape, but really good red wine at this price……
Muscat de Saint Jean de Minervois - £5.99 - the most delicious sweet white which I don’t think you could even find in France at this price. For aperitif (as the French would) or dessert (as the British would).
Don’t get stuck in the queues!  And remember that, if your selected wine is out of stock when you first try, all stores should receive a top-up delivery…….
Good luck
Richard Bampfield MW
